National Basketball Association (NBA) is the most famous and profitable sports league in the United States Of America. It consists of thirty teams; twenty-nine are based in the United States and one in Canada.

 

Due to its immense popularity, one of the most common questions that followers are interested in is the valuation of their favorite team. Golden State Warriors is the most expensive NBA team in the year 2022-23. New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers follow them.

 

The following list will give you an overview and ranking as per the valuations of all 30 NBA teams. These NBA team valuations are as stated by Forbes for the year 2022-23.

30. New Orleans Pelicans: $1.6 billion

The New Orleans Pelicans is a basketball team competing in the NBA based in New Orleans. They are a member of the league’s Western Conference, Southwest Division. Their home arena is Smoothie King Centre. They haven’t won any championships or conference titles to date. Despite having players like Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and CJ McCollum, the New Orleans Pelicans have been unable to push out from the last spot. They generated total revenue of $268 million in the year 2021-22. 

29. Memphis Grizzlies: $1.65 billion

Memphis Grizzlies is an NBA team based out of Memphis, Tennessee. The Grizz, as known locally, is a member of the league's Western Conference, Southwest Division. Their home ground is the FedEx Forum. They haven’t won any championships to date. They generated total revenue of $272 million in the year 2021-22. 

 

28. Minnesota Timberwolves: $1.67 billion

Minnesota Timberwolves is an NBA team based in Minneapolis. They compete in the league as a Western Conference, Northwest Division member. Their home arena is Target Center. They haven’t won any championships to date. Despite having talented players like Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, the team is ranked in the bottom five. In the year 2021-22, they generated total revenue of $271 million.

27. Charlotte Hornets: $1.7 billion

Charlotte Hornets is a team owned by Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. They compete in the league as a member of the leagues Eastern Conference and Southeast Division. Their home arena is the Spectrum Center. They haven’t won any championships until now. For the last four seasons, they haven’t qualified for the playoffs. They generated total revenue of $269 million in the year 2021-22. 

26. Indiana Pacers: $1.8 billion

Indiana Pacers is an NBA team based in Indianapolis. They compete in NBA as a member of the Eastern Conference, Central Division. Their home arena is the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. In the ABA (American Basketball Association) days, they won the playoffs three times to claim the championship title. But in recent times, they haven’t performed as they did on the court. 25. Orlando Magic: $1.85 billion

Orlando Magic is a professional basketball team based in Orlando, Florida. They compete in NBA as a member of the Eastern Conference, Southeast Division. Their home arena is the Amway Center. They have never won an NBA title but were runner-ups in the NBA playoffs of 1995 and 2009. They generated total revenue of $272 million in the year 2021-22.

Oklahoma City Thunder is an NBA team native to Oklahoma City. They compete in the league as a Western Conference, Northwest Division member. Their home arena is Paycom Center. They won the championship in 1979 and have made multiple appearances in playoffs in the last 14 years. They generated total revenue of $274 million in the year 2021-22.

18. Sacramento Kings: $2.03 billion

A member of the Western Conference, Pacific division, their hometown is Sacramento, California. Though they have not appeared in playoffs in a long time, they have somewhat maintained their spot in the most valued teams list. They generated total revenue of $279 million in the year 2021-22. 

17. Cleveland Cavaliers: $2.05 billion

The team is based in Cleveland. They are a member of the leagues Eastern Conference, and Central Division. Their home arena is the Rocket Mortgage FeildHouse. They have a title to their name, thanks to LeBron James and Kyrie. They generated total revenue of $325 million in the year 2021-22. 

16. Portland Trail Blazers: $2.1 billion

The team is based in Portland, Oregon, and is a member of the league’s Western Conference, Northwest Division. They have one championship to their name. They generated total revenue of $291 million in the year 2021-22. 

15. Milwaukee Bucks: $2.3 billion

The team is based in Milwaukee and is a member of the Eastern Conference, Central Division. The team holds two NBA titles (1971, 2021) and is one of the best-performing teams. They generated total revenue of $352 million in the year 2021-22. 

14. Washington Wizards: $2.5 billion

They are a member of the Eastern Conference, Southeast Division, and based in Washington, D.C. They have only one NBA title to their name. Also, they generated total revenue of $291 million in the year 2021-22. 

13. Phoenix Suns: $2.7 billion

The team is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and is a Western Conference, Pacific Division member. Though they haven’t won any NBA championship title, they still hold 13th in Forbes Team Valuation. They generated total revenue of $302 million in the year 2021-22. 

12. Miami Heat: $3 billion

They are based in Miami and are a member of the league’s Eastern Conference, Southeast Division. They have three NBA titles, six-time runner-ups, and multiple playoff appearances. They generated total revenue of $326 million in 2021-22. 

11. Toronto Raptors: $3.1 billion

They are the only Canadian professional basketball team in NBA. They are based in Toronto and a member of the league’s Eastern Conference, Atlantic Division. They were the 2019 NBA champions. Valued at $3.1 billion, they are Canada’s most valued sports franchise. They generated total revenue of $299 million in the year 2021-22. 

10. Philadelphia 76ers: $3.15 billion

The team is based in Philadelphia and is a member of the league’s Eastern Conference, Atlantic division. They have three NBA championship titles, but none of them in recent years. They generated total revenue of $345 million in the year 2021-22. 

9. Huston Rockets: $3.2 billion

They are a member of the league's Western Conference, Southwest Division, and based out of Huston, Texas. They are a team with 2 NBA championship titles and home to many talented players. They generated total revenue of $350 million in 2021-22. 

8. Dallas Mavericks: $3.3 billion

The team is based in Dallas, Texas, and competes as a member of the Western Conference, Southwest Division. Though they only have one NBA title, they are one of the most valued teams in the NBA. They generated total revenue of $364 million in 2021-22. 

7. Brooklyn Nets: $3.5 billion

A team based in Brooklyn, New York. It is a member of the Eastern Conference, Atlantic division. The team’s ranking in Forbes has taken a hit with the exit of core players such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. They generated total revenue of $405 million in 2021-22. 

6. Los Angeles Clippers: $3.9 billion

The team is based in Los Angeles and is a member of the league’s Western Conference, Pacific Division. Though they don’t have an NBA championship title to their name, they are one of the most valued teams in the NBA. They generated total revenue of $362 million in 2021-22. 

 

5. Boston Celtics: $4 billion

Boston Celtics is a member of the league’s Eastern Conference, Atlantic Division. They are based in Boston, Massachusets. They are tied with the Lakers for the most NBA championship titles. Many great players have been a part of the team, justifying its position in the Forbes list of most valued NBA teams. They generated total revenue of $361 million in 2021-22. 

4. Chicago Bulls: $4.1 billion

The team calls the city of Chicago their hometown. They are a member of the league’s Eastern Conference, Central Division. They have six NBA championship titles to their name, all led by legends like Michel Jordan and Scottie Pippen. They generated total revenue of $352 million in 2021-22. 

3. Los Angeles Lakers: $5.9 billion

The team is based in Los Angeles and is a member of the league’s Western Conference, Pacific Division. It’s the team with the most championships in NBA. It's the team that gave us legends such as LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. They generated total revenue of $465 million in 2021-22.

2. New York Knicks: $6.1 billion

The team is based in New York and is a member of the Eastern Conference, Atlantic division. The team has only two NBA championship titles but has not won in the last 50 years. They generated total revenue of $452 million in 2021-22. 

1. Golden State Warriors: $7 billion

The team is based in San Fransisco and is a member of the league’s  Western Conference, Pacific Division. The team has risen to this position in the last decade. The reason for this is its consistent appearance in playoff finals since 2015 and the four championship titles it has won during the same period. They generated total revenue of $765 million in 2021-22.
